Pre-Primary Years

Academics – Playgroup

Our Playgroup programme is designed as a child’s first meaningful step into the world of learning—where emotional security, curiosity, and a sense of belonging come before everything else.

At this stage, we do not rush learning. We honour childhood.

Grounded in a deep understanding of early development, our approach is intentionally play-based and inquiry-led, recognising that young children learn best through exploration, repetition, and real experiences rather than instruction alone.

Within a carefully prepared environment, learners are encouraged to make choices, explore materials, and engage with people and ideas at their own pace. Every interaction, routine, and experience is thoughtfully planned to support holistic development.

Through a balance of guided engagements and uninterrupted play, children begin to:

  • Build a sense of identity and independence
  • Develop early language through meaningful interactions
  • Strengthen social connections and learn to coexist with others
  • Explore movement, coordination, and body awareness
  • Express thinking and emotions through multiple forms of communication

Our classrooms are not just spaces—they are environments that invite thinking, movement, and discovery. Materials are purposefully curated to stimulate the senses and provoke curiosity.

As educators, our role goes beyond facilitation. We observe closely, listen intentionally, and respond thoughtfully—scaffolding each child’s learning journey with sensitivity and respect.

We place strong emphasis on:

  • Emotional safety as the foundation for all learning
  • Consistent routines that build security and predictability
  • Sensory-rich experiences that support brain development
  • Early social behaviour rooted in empathy and respect
  • Developing independence through small, meaningful responsibilities

At DYPIS, we believe that when children feel safe, seen, and valued, learning follows naturally.

Our Playgroup experience is not about early academics—it is about building confident learners who are curious, capable, and ready to engage with the world.

Academics – Nursery to Sr. KG

The Nursery to Sr. KG years mark a significant shift in a child’s learning journey—where curiosity begins to take shape as understanding, and experiences gradually translate into meaningful learning.
At this stage, our approach remains firmly rooted in inquiry and play, while becoming more intentional, structured, and developmentally progressive. We move beyond exposure to building connections, deepening thinking, and fostering independence.

Our curriculum is designed around the six key areas of learning, ensuring a balanced and holistic development of every child:

  • Communication and Language – nurturing confident speakers and attentive listeners through rich conversations, storytelling, and expression
  • Physical Development – strengthening fine and gross motor skills, coordination, and overall well-being through active engagement
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development – building self-awareness, resilience, empathy, and positive relationships
  • Literacy – developing early reading and writing skills through phonics, storytelling, and meaningful print experiences
  • Mathematics – fostering logical thinking, number sense, patterns, and problem-solving through hands-on exploration
  • Understanding the World & Expressive Arts and Design – encouraging curiosity, creativity, imagination, and a deeper connection with the environment and community

Learning is facilitated through integrated, theme-based inquiry units, where children explore concepts across disciplines, ask questions, investigate ideas, and reflect on their understanding. This approach ensures that learning is not fragmented but connected to real-life experiences.

Our classrooms are dynamic learning spaces where children are encouraged to think, question, collaborate, and take ownership of their learning. Educators act as facilitators and co-constructors—guiding, observing, and extending children’s thinking with intention.

We place strong emphasis on:

  • Developing independence and responsibility
  • Strengthening thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Encouraging collaboration and communication
  • Building strong foundational literacy and numeracy
  • Supporting emotional well-being and self-regulation

Alongside, learners begin to develop key Cambridge attributes and skills—becoming confident, responsible, reflective, innovative, and engaged individuals.

As children progress from Nursery to Sr. KG, they evolve into confident, expressive, and independent learners—well-prepared not just for primary school, but for lifelong learning.

At DYPIS, we believe early education is not about accelerating academics, but about building the capacity to think, question, and engage meaningfully with the world.
